On 11 December 1946, the United
Nations established UNICEF in Newyork City, USA and in India its regional
office is in New Delhi. UNICEF, acronym of United Nations Children's Fund.
United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, ensuring that they
respect children's rights, efforts to improve the health, nutrition, education,
and general welfare of children.
The board is made up of government
representatives elected by the United Nations. It is governed by a 36 member
executive board that establishes policies, approves programs and oversees
administrative and financial plans. Its totally relies on voluntaries fund
given by the private and government sectors. UNICEF works for 190 countries and
union territories.
